(no subject)

Had lunch at a pub in the Peak District with A. on Saturday, which was very nice; so was wandering around Buxton (where they were having a "Dickensian market" which would have made a Victorian street trader raise an eyebrow right off their forehead; there was a book stall and a cake stall, but nothing else I could ever imagine anyone buying- well, maybe if there was a child who had been bad but you still had to get it a present; you can't get the coal these days), and stopping by woods on a snowy afternoon, I mean stopping to look out from the road up to the Barrel as dusk fell and the mist rose. It was amazing, all mysterious and crepuscular.
(Yes, we did the "Like a pancake?" gag.)

You intrigue me. I was in Sheffield today, but not the Peak. I did manage to accidentally visit the Kelham Island Tavern in between the office and the train, through. It took quite a big accident, it's not nearly on the direct route...
