Apr. 21st, 2006 05:48 pmHometime on Friday! I could go out and do exciting things... but I'm going to go home and veg out over DVDs, instead. Hooray!
The library had Shannon Hale's The Goose Girl. Enjoyed it a lot, may look for others of hers. (I did wonder if Hale had read An Ordinary Princess at one point, though.) I expect this was a recommendation from the Diana Wynne Jones list- most of the new YAs I've read recently have been.
Finally got Scholar of Magics. Excellent so far (Jane has just gone to sleep in the inn.) Feel free to do spoilery comments as I won't read them till Monday, by which time I'll have finished the book :) I bet I know who the bad guy is, but we shall see... Really liked Jane as a main character, also the little memories of Faris from Jane's viewpoint. Loooove the evocation of Glasscastle. It's surprising how little sense I have of Lambert's personality considering he's the main POV character- I feel like I know whatshisname in College of Magics better, and we only get glimpses of him, really. This may change on a slower reread, though.
Ech, eyes itch. Stupid pollen. Will go home, shower, watch [ponders] Killeroo, Bollo and Charlie (the Boosh series 1 episodes that don't correspond with any of the radio eps.) Then it'll be time for HIGNFY. Blessings rain on the Beeb- it may be big and stupid, but from time to time something genius can sneak out of there.
