Saturday: A nightmarish quantity of shopping was done. I now have everything I need to go on holiday, except some things. Got back too late for Doctor Who, but luckily went to see someone with TV On Demand on Sunday, so all was well. A nice calm day, showed off my beautiful new summery trainers.
Monday: A recording of That Was Then, This Is Now- a radio comedy about "this week in history" that will be on Radio Two (!) at the beginning of September- at least, all the dates they were talking about were in early Sept, I suppose they might decide to put it out in January instead. Excellent cast and script, will certainly listen to the series. ( Read more... )
Yesterday: The first of several things I'm going to at the BAC's comedy festival, Robin Ince's Book Club. Unfortunately Ince wasn't actually there, but it was good nevertheless. The compere explained that "normally the evening is started by Robin coming out and reading lots of bits from books. Sadly I'm severely dyslexic. It would be a long night."( Read more... )
It looks like there's even a sort of theme through the events, which is musical comedy (well, there wasn't any on Friday, but Hall does have a country singer character, Otis Lee Crenshaw. So I can include him for completion's sake. Don't judge me.) I often shy away a bit from someone billed as a musical comedian, but actually all of these were good.
