I like where I live- the hills look right, and the yellowgrey stone cities make me smile, and the accent is different from mine but familiar and good to get your teeth into. I still miss the suburb where I was a child, and our city, with the big market square and the mad Victorian buildings and even the ghastly inner ring road. And my grandparents' city, smog and eucalyptus, tropical greenery in the desert, sea and canyons and concrete.
But oh, I miss being a Londoner more than anything. All the annoying things are true, and half the time I couldn't wait to leave, but that's my city, the real city, and I want to be there.
