Sep. 13th, 2012 09:19 pmThe benefits of going home early after a meeting... it meant that I saw a tweet from Pappy's yesterday that they were playing at the Saltaire festival in time to actually get to Saltaire and get the second-to-last ticket for their Last Show Ever set. Yay! (They aren't coming anywhere near here on the tour proper.)
It was excellent, not surprisingly. More of a throughline than the last show of theirs I saw, as the cast members as old men look back and reminisce about why the troupe broke up... plenty of silliness, poor costumes, near-corpsing (coughTomcough), callbacks (even to their support act's gags! He was good too, although I never caught his surname. Joel Mumble), and beautifully-constructed gags. Blissful. I'm sliiiiightly wondering about nipping over to see it again in Salford next month, which would not be a good idea for so many reasons but is very tempting.
