I didn't go over to Manchester *solely* to see Pappy's Last Show Ever a second time. I also wanted to see my oldest friend before she has her baby. But hey, she enjoyed the gig as well.
Actually it was two shows for the price of one- they reprised some old sketches in the first half (Old Louie! Dean the Dinosaur!) and then did their Edinburgh show in the second, which is very cool, quite plot-based but with plenty of room for head-shoulders-knees-and-toes themed daftness. This review calls it "an hour of undiluted joy" and "highly choreographed dicking about", which is about right. See it! (if you like sketch comedy and are near a venue).
It seemed very appropriate somehow that there was some kind of folk-dance meeting going on in the twilight on the square outside the Lowry; we stopped to watch a group of rapper-dancers making woven sword figures wich intermittently flashed out of the disk, and a morris side where half of them were in black and half in flame-coloured ribbons. People covered in bells kept jingling through to the loos to change.
