shark_hatBloody hell, look at this, they found dinosaur cartilage [collagen, even] and sequenced the proteins!!! Guardian report. (Actual papers are in Science). And yes, they really are most closely related to birds! You know what this is, this is AWESOME, as in, actually fills me with actual awe. Damn, I wish I was a biochemist about now.
