So I went up to the Hen and Chickens last night, knowing fom last time that there wouldn't be many people there- their Comedy Tank evening has three or four not-well-known acts on. But three in the audience... that's embarrassing. It was all funny- the compering duo (Freeze) had a very nice don't-know-what-we're-doing dynamic, not overdone (and one of them had beer thrown over him, which always makes for good comedy in my opinion), and the two women doing Harmono-Cosmology (a pisstake of Scient*l*gy) were very good- but it's frankly a lot of work to laugh at things if you're going to be the only one. Normally there are double-figure audiences for this evening, so quite what was going on, who knows. Oh well.
I stayed for the later show as well, since it was Tony Law, who I liked last week, and enjoyed seeing again. It was a prep-for-Edinburgh show so he kept stopping to look at the set list or say that a bit needed more work- I have a taste for things where you can see the cogs, so it was a lot of fun, and I think it'll be very good when it is finished (must get to the Festival some year.) The magic shoes that turn you two-dimensional and the interview with a Viking were probably my favourite bits, but I think the letters to the future will be funny. There were 8 people there, mostly his friends or management but hey, they all laughed, which made it more enjoyable than the earlier stuff. I think you could have a really good evening at the Comedy Tank, but you'd have to get a group together.

Still waiting. Must not check email every five minutes...
