So tiiiiired; hotel room for last couple of days was spartan to the point of amusement (mirror right height to use sitting down; no chair), but not having a fan was a Bad Thing.
Was on visit in Camden to go to ARG Comedy Festival (some photos of acts), 32 Edinburgh previews over two days. (I saw... 14, I think?)

I went partly as a way to reduce the complexity of my Edinburgh choices, partly to go to a Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown recording, partly because I missed London. It was an excellent decision, even though the air-conditioning in one of the rooms wasn't working well and the soft drinks were jolly expensive.
I think my favourite finished-seeming sets were James Acaster (awkwardness, solo Twister, retrieving Yoko Ono's reputation via biscuits and a recreation of Titanic) and Nish Kumar (identity, memes). Of the scrappier ones, Michael Legge (getting pissed off at stuff, Bulgarian frogs) and Bridget Christie (feminism, sarcasm, pens). Strong runners-up were Daniel Cook (narrative with sketches in an orange jumpsuit and sparkly jacket and throwing quiche on the stage) and David Trent (multimedia collage with bonus Acaster intertextuality).

ETA: I forgot how much I enjoyed Thom Tuck's compering (I mean, all the comperes were fine, but he had a gap to fill and chucked in a bit of his standup about how smoking is great and women's magazine sex tips can lead to awkward fishing around for grapes, and it was great.)

I'm sorriest I missed seeing Sara Pascoe, I think. Possibly Stuart Laws.
Also brilliant Flatslam recording, with Martin White on accordion for one round! (It'll be coming out next month, I think). Erm, behind the scenes stuff... not much, it's pretty much as it sounds. It definitely is funnier to see the panic on people's faces as they try and improvise a song than just to hear it, though. And Fanshaw Standon in the flesh was very impressive. Oh yeah, Tom and Ben were the only ones at the desks for the soundcheck, and Tom zipped around and did all the mikes, including an impression of Matthew (nasal, "No, Tom, that makes no sense,") and leaning in front of Ben to do his... and Tom's threatened crowdsurfing- he actually just jumped down into the aisle and did a comedy collapse; and Tom and Ben singing along with the jingles with happy looks on their faces.
ETA, after listening: there were a few cuts- like Ben completely screwing up the "English Country Garden" round so they started again (he was originally given a different letter) and a bit of a sidetrack when Tom got confused by corn-on-the-cob. "Why is it called that? What's a cob?"- everyone tried to explain it to him (including me!). Oh, and the bit about arseholes was before the show- I can't quite remember why they were talking about piles and polyps as they got themselves on stage!

Really looking forward to Edinburgh now!
