Just got back from a week seeing family and also visiting Chicago, which was great- walkable downtown and rattly elevated trains, Impressionists at the Art Inst, house museums, nature museum, quaint heritage districts, free zoo, comedy at Second City and also iO, seeing where BAB et al lived in the forties. Saw cardinals, red-shouldered blackbirds, junco, carolina wren, downy woodpecker, chickadees, goldfinch. Flew via Dublin, and found that you can clear US immigration there, with no queue at all! Now need to stay awake for about six hours to try to get back on UK time, which will probably be tricky.
