So my last entry was enthusing about Stewart Lee, and there was Fist of Fun on the radio last night. Hooray for serendipity. This show led to the TV version of Fist of Fun, which is where I first saw Lee and Herring. Both versions are very funny. You can listen to the show at BBC 7's Listen Again page- go to the A-Z list and go to Lee and Herring's Fist of Fun, or look at the schedule for Tuesday- it was on at 23.30. The first episode will be there until the next one is broadcast next Tuesday. This one includes the fable of The Tortoise and The Man and Peter's budget trifle recipe ("... now take a swig of cooking sherry...").
BBC 7 is a brilliant station- they always have repeats of the Goons, Round the Horne, and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue and similar classic comedies, and also newer ones (Stephen Fry's show was on not long ago, the National Theatre of Brent's history of the world is on at the moment): they have science fiction (they did a radio adaptation of Douglas Adam's "lost" Doctor Who episode, Shada, recently), and they have dramatisations of books. It's certainly the digital/internet radio station I listen to most, possibly the radio station of any kind. (Tying with Radio 4, which tells UK readers allll about the sort of person I am. Shipping forecast, anybody?)
