May. 22nd, 2006 12:46 pmI was watching the Eurovision on Saturday and wishing I could blog it when someone rang up, yay! Apparently the radio has someone else commentating, not Terry Wogan, which is just wrong. So I had to pass on the sarcasm in my best fake Irish accent, as well as trying to convey some sense of the amazingness of the costumes and dancing. "OK, there's a pile of red roses on the white grand piano... OMG a ballet dancer painted white just bounced up through them!!11!" "I think Tel was being unfair to describe these dancers as stuck 30 years in the past. It's much more 1982 than 1976." "And here we have... some women in white dresses, oh the surprise." "Puppet bondage!" The voting is always as much fun to watch as the songs- not many spectacular cock-ups this year, sadly, but all the usual geographical blocs voting for each other. Still, there was a clear winner, and well deserved, too! Much more fun than most of the others.
Also went to the comedy on Sunday in company (thus drank more than I normally do- luckily not enough for a Monday hangover). Nick Revell, John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman were on at the 99 club; ( a very good bill. )
Happy birthday!
