I feel that the corollary to this is that people who do bring a book with them even though they work in a building full of books are extra-specially trustworthy. Other people should send them money. They will not embezzle it to buy cushions.

Depends on the book. Most fiction, trustworthy. The young person's guide to fraud and embezzlement (Billitt & Leggitt, 1954) not so much.
