Aug. 30th, 2007 12:16 pmSkipton seems to be a nice town- a mediaeval castle I didn't go in, and a decent market. Much more important, it has a little department store where one can look at many different washing machines. Ooo.
Went to a show that was quite different to what I was expecting- it was called The Shakespeare Revue, and it was very very trad revue format. It was created by the RSC in the first place, but it turned out to be a collection of sketches and songs from all over the place- I'd expect most of the content of a revue to have been written specially for it, and certainly for there to be some acknowledgment of the authors in the programme. It was quite a fun game, though- the Monty Python Ring Kichard the Thrid sketch, the Cambridge Circus "I quoth, I quoth, I quoth", Victoria Wood's amateur director's monologue, the Beyond the Fringe "Go ye to Essex, Southwark" one, and, oh, another one i can't remember were easy to spot, but there was an "Everyone's dead, Dave"-type sketch about the aftermath of Hamlet that was very funny and we couldn't identify.
