Sense of Impending DOOOOM has been considerably improved by doing a few things. Funny that.

Have finished watching series one of Man From Uncle.
Comments: I want series two. Right now. (This is impossible on account of Time Warner being swine.) I want to read fanfic. Right now. (This is possible on account of the internet being spiffing.) I want to go back in time and Britpick, because The Odd Man Affair is an excellent story, and does not deserve to have UKish viewers laughing at it several times. (This is impossible on account of the bit where it would involve going back in time. Also the bit where it would involve convincing the producers to alter things that nobody in their audience would notice. But... dude, waitress service in a pub. Suspension of disbelief fail!)

Clearly you have never been to El Vino's. Although that's more of a wine bar. I used to get waited on in O'Neill's too, however. So there.

The set dressing for this was "standard grotty sixties pub"- it was well done, in fact, unlike the outdoor set with street too wide, wrong kind of cobbles, wrong shape of taxi- and waiters in pubs really didn't happen then, and are still v. unlikely now- I know other people who've met with them, and they comment on it in surprised tones- and it's exactly the sort of thing that's always being picked up on in hp_britglish, say, so it amused me.
