No, I did, it's true. Happy Mondays at the Amersham Arms in New Cross- much trauma, had to get [shudders] a bus. I hate getting buses for the first time somewhere unfamiliar and trying to find your stop. It's a nice venue- properly ventilated!- and it was a very good evening, Josie Long, Tomos Parry and Stewart Lee, the MC was Russell Howard, he was good as well. I don't have much to say about it; Parry was OK, a nice repeated singing punchline, Long and Lee were good, as before. I liked the drawings of Long's favourite things. Lee's still the boss. It was fun to see a couple of bits that he'd done at the BAC and Hackney in a more matured form.
Tonight, an early night.
Oh, about books, I went for a mystery in the end, one of Colin Watson's Flaxborough series- light without being insubstantial. Now reading another one of his.
"I like Catholicism. It's my favourite form of clandestine global evil."
Stewart Lee
"Trevor hooted and began to peck at its perch in a sudden transport of paranoia. 'Choodle scrmsh' murmured Mrs Sayers."
